Poverty and Unemployment are the two sides of the same coin. When we solve one problem, the second will be taken care and there will be great progression with it. In the present scenario, poverty and unemployment are unfortunately, still the most dangerous and never ending problems faced by the people in Madhya Pradesh.

Socio-economic development programmes and the Special income generation were presented among selected target groups in the rural sector for landless agricultural labourers, small farmers and people from the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes in the past.

This new strategy was implemented because, after the critical evaluation of the earlier plans and their achievements, it was found that the benefits of economic growth had failed to infiltrate to the common man consisting of the low income groups and weaker segments of the society.

The concept of the Self Employment does come into the picture as the evil of unemployment has destroyed many governments in the state. The process of engaging yourself in any occupation or any business initiative, which an individual start on his/her own using the courage, team work and effective skill usage is known as Self Employment.

Government spending and sponsoring these programmes like the Employment Generation Programs always play a major role in enhancing the chances of the Wage Influenced Employment and the Self Employment Scenarios.

Under the able and vibrant leadership of Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Government of Madhya Pradesh introduced the Sant Ravidas Swarojgar Yojana in 2022 to assist the economically weaker section in the state and give them employment and raise their confidence.
