Milk is always projected as a complete food because of its rich content of fat, carbohydrates, and protein, all the vitamins and numerous minerals vital for sustaining life and maintaining good health.
Let’s accept the fact that billions of people around the world consume milk and dairy products every day. The milk and dairy products an energetic source of nutrition for these people, and they present incomes opportunities for Dairy Farmers, Milk Processing Units like Milky Mist, Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited), Shopkeepers and other shareholders in the dairy value chain of the state of Gujarat.
But to achieve this, Consumers, Industry and Governments need data on how milk and dairy products can contribute to human nutrition and how dairying and dairy-industry development can best contribute to increasing the food security and relieving of poverty.
The milk is compared to the Sanjeevani Booti, which was the ideal medicine in the Ramayana used by Lord Hanuman to get rid of the wound of Lord Lakshmana, brother of Lord Shri Rama, while fighting the King of Lanka, Ravana.
The milk gives energy and is the ideal medicine to get rid of any health and other disorders, including the nervous disorders. The milk is a kind of drink loved by young and old and comes in various flavours.
The Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana is the people focused scheme undertaken by the Government of Gujarat to protect the interest of the milkman and his/her families. This was introduced in the year 2018.
OBJECTIVES OF THE GUJARAT DOODH SANJEEVANI YOJANA
The objectives of the Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana are given below as follows:
- To enhance the nutrition levels of the primary school going kids in tribal and rural areas of Gujarat state.
- Play a vital role in improving the health of the children’s in the tribal and rural areas of the state.
- To encourage poor children belonging to underprivileged sections of the society in Gujarat to attend school more regularly and assist them concentrate on classroom activities, thus improving the Registration, Preservation and the Attendance Rates.

FEATURES OF THE GUJARAT DOODH SANJEEVANI YOJANA
The features of the Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana introduced by the Government of Gujarat are given below as follows:
- To encourage the production of Milk and Milk products in the state of Gujarat with advanced technologies in a logical manner.
- Double toned Pasteurised Flavoured Milk is supplied to the people living in tribal areas.
- The government is carrying out the expenditure of INR 66 Crores to assist the Diary Workers and their families.
- The Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana is approved with good coordination with the Health and family welfare and the Education Department of the state.
- 16,000 Schools, Anganwadis covering 150 Talukas in Gujarat state with the government offering 200ml of milk 5 days a week to get rid of the malnutrition and encourage them to concentrate on studies.
- This scheme also promotes the children of the tribal in the state to become independent and make a difference in their lives.
- Two Diary farms are established in the places like the Banas and Sabar to boost the production of milk products.
- Adding milk as a major diet in breakfast and Mid-day meals to the children in primary schools in Gujarat.
- This scheme targets the rural and tribal areas of the state and make sure that people do not get malnourished.
- The Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana has encouraged the drop outs in the schools, thereby increasing the chances of literacy in the state.
- The production and processing of the milk in 4 different flavours is encouraged to satisfy the desires of the people.
- It also helps to analyse the health and emotional quotient of the people of Gujarat.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR GETTING ENROLLED UNDER THE GUJARAT DOODH SANJEEVANI YOJANA
The qualification criteria to become the member under the Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana are given below as follows:
- The family must be staying in Gujarat for last 15 years.
- The family must be belonging to the SC/ST, Endangered Tribals and the Backward Community in the state.
- The children must be studying in the Government Schools.
DOCUMENT REQUIRED FOR ENROLMENT UNDER THE GUJARAT DOODH SANJEEVANI YOJANA
The documents required for getting registered under the Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana are given below as follows:
- The students studying in the Government Schools and Orphanages are eligible.
- Nativity Certificate Xerox copy signed by the gazetted officer of the government.
- Voter Id, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Ration Card Xerox copies signed by the gazetted officer of the government.
- Certificate for Differently-abled students studying in the school.
- You need to submit the Address Proof like the Electricity bills or the Gas bills.
- The student must bring his/her ID card to the school as a proof.
- More than one children of a single family is eligible.
- The annual income of the family must be below 1 Lakh.
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING FOR THE GUJARAT DOODH SANJEEVANI YOJANA
The procedures for applying for the Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana are given below as follows:
- The student will have to enrol in the government schools of the state of Gujarat.
- The student will need to enter all the personal details like the Name, Age, Address, Caste, Village, Taluk, Birth date, Parents name and the Email address.
- The students need to attach the Xerox copies of the Nativity, Caste Certificate, Aadhar Card, No Objection Certificate, Id Proof, and the Passport Size Photos and submit it.
- No Objection Certificate from the Tehsildar/Talukdar of the respective village or Taluk in Gujarat verified by the Gazetted officer.
- These documents are submitted to the Education Department of the Government of Gujarat and acknowledgement is given.
- The duration for clearing the application under this scheme is 20 days from the date of submitting the application.
- Once the form is approved, the student becomes the member or the beneficiary under this scheme.
The Gujarat Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana is instrumental in reducing poverty, enhancing the nutrition and making the future of children very stable in the state of Gujarat.
