Chenetha Bima Scheme

In Telangana there are 25000 working handlooms. The estimated weavers and supplementary workers reliant on the industry are about 60,000. There are 400 Handloom Weavers Cooperative Societies in the State comprising of 264 Cotton, 44 Wool and 55 silk materials. The Department of Handlooms and Textiles of the Government of Telangana is dealing with Handlooms, Power looms in the Co-operative and decentralised sector and encouraging the creation of Textile and Apparel Parks in the Garment sector.

Telangana is one of the main states in the Handloom Industry. There are about 50,533 Handloom weavers including secondary workers. There are about 30,000 Power looms working in the state and there are 700 Weavers Cooperative Societies. Besides this, there are 250Power looms/Garments in 150 societies.

Telangana is the key state in the Handloom Manufacturing and is well-known for Narayanpet and Gollabama, PochampallyGadwal, and IkatSaris and Durries from Warangal. Karimnagar bed sheets are world famous for their amazingbeauty and designs.

Government of Telangana has come          up with the ChenethaBima Scheme to secure the interest of the Handicraft Weavers and encourage their welfare.                                               

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of the ChenethaBima Scheme are given below:

  • This Scheme will offer financial help and social security to the family members of the weaving community.
  • Revive the handloom industry in Telangana and encourage analysis and research.
  • Make a difference in the lives of the weavers of the state and make them independent.

MISSION:

To stress on all round growth of Handloom Textiles for ensuring the progression of rural economy through the introduction of modern technology and enthusiasm by offering proper work environment and access to welfare facilities and to accomplish enhanced quality of life by increasing production of quality raw materials and finished products hence creating new, energetic and unified class textiles sector in the Handlooms

ELIGIBILITY:

The ChenethaBima Scheme of the Government of Telangana, there are definite eligibility conditions given below as follows:

  • Applicant must be a member of the State Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society) recognised by the government of Telangana.
  • The individual must be living below the poverty line.
  • The individual need to be a handloom weaver by profession for 3 years.
  • Only one member from a particular family can apply for this scheme, multiple entries are not entertained.
  • The applicant must be above 18 years.
  • The aspirant must be born and raised in Telangana.

FEATURES:

The Government of Telangana sponsored ChenethaBima Scheme comes with various features:

  • The weavers will be offered the skill development training and training relating to product development.
  • There is the construction of the common facility centres and cluster development training will be done.
  • We offer the insurance cover to the weavers of the state.
  • Lot of exhibitions and awareness programs will be introduced to market the handicraft products in Telangana.        
  • 50% of the subsidies are given to the weavers to acquire the raw materials.
  • Government of Telanganahas announced loan waiver of INR 1 Lakhs permitted by the bank to the individual weavers in the state.
  • They also encourage the women entrepreneurs and the Primary Weaver Co-operative Societies that are involved in textiles and handlooms.
  • The insured amount under the ChenethaBima Scheme is INR 5 Lakhs deposited to the nominees account within 10 business days.
  • The scheme is executed using online details and MIS created by the Government of Telangana.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS:

TheChenethaBima Scheme backed by the Government of Telangana requires some documents given below:

  • Caste Certificate certified by the Gazetted officer.
  • Nativity Certificate verified by the Gazetted officer.
  • Birth Certificate validated by the Gazetted officer.
  • Xerox of the Physically Handicapped Certificate.
  • Copy of Ration card, Passport confirmed by the Gazetted officer.
  • Certificate from the research establishment stating that weaver has learned new talent/skill.
  • Copy of Voter Id, Driving License certified by the Gazetted officer.
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) Certificate confirmed by the Gazetted Officer.
  • Registration certificate issued by the handloom association the weaver is associated.
  • Attested Xerox copy of Aadhar and Pan Card.
  • Annual Income Certificate issued in Telangana.
  • Xerox of the Caste Certificates for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Xerox copy of the statement of the bank accounts in Telangana.
  • Passport size photos self-attested.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING:

The Chenetha Bima Scheme sponsored by the Government of Telangana has certain strictly laid down processes given below as follows:

  • You should fill all the information on the website like the Gender, Caste, Sub caste, Religion, Aadhar Card, Name, Age, Fathers Name, Husbands Name, Wife name, Sex, Marital Status Single or Married, Pan Card, Scanned Copies of all the related documents and submit.
  • You need to go to the local GramaPanchayats of the village/tehsils and submit all the documents.
  • It takes 15 or 30 days for the committee to examine all the documents and contact the applicants.
  • You need to check the credentials with the Regional Rural Office and see if your application form is accepted.
  • The local rural office will call the applicant, if they need any additional information.
  • You must also visit the website https://www.telangana.gov.in to check for updates regarding this scheme.

INITIATIVES DONE BY TELANGANA GOVERNMENT

There are several initiatives carried out by the Telangana Government given below as follows:

  • Establishment of the Textile Park in Siricilla.
  • Setting up of Apparel Export Park in Gundalapochampally.
  • Creation of Textile Centre at Pashamylaram.
  • Extending the financial support to the Pochampally Park to be shared equally between the central and the state governments.
  • Formation of the White gold Spintex Private Limited at Ibrahim pattinam in Rangareddy district under the Public Private Partnership Models.
  • Establishment of Kakatiya Mega Textiles Tech Park at Warangal to offer employment facilities to innumerable people.
