Industrial development is one of the notable requirements for Maharashtra. Great prominence is given to numerous development plans of the country. The expansion and development of industry needs trained employees to achieve the varied purposes necessary for it.

Severe shortage of manpower in the skilled categories is felt in many Industries in Maharashtra. It has been realised that Apprenticeship Training Scheme of the Government of Maharashtra is the major source of supply of skilled manpower to the industry.The need of the hour is to supply quality manpower to the industries in Maharashtra.

The Apprenticeship Act was modified in 1961, 1973 and in 1986. The scheme has been executed in the state of Maharashtra since January 1963 after the presentation of the Act in 1962. The apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra is the major step taken in this regard.

The Government of Maharashtra has amended the Apprentice Act of 1961, as per the Maharashtra Government Gazette Part-8 and the Part-22 dated 09/02/2018 and the Maharashtra Government Gazette Part-4 dated 05/04/2018 the establishment has been directed to recruit 50% apprentices with top priority to boost their chances of having adequate manpower.

OBJECTIVES:

The major objective of the apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra has clear objectives. They are given below as follows:

  • To regulate schemes for training the apprentices as per updated syllabus introduced by the Government of Maharashtra.
  • Arming the young people with latest skills to keep them abreast with the latest technologies.
  • Building self confidence among the young people of Maharashtra state.
  • Minimise the cost involved and achieve the maximum profits for any segment in the state.
  • Arming the young population with skills and knowledge as they cannot deal with the western educational techniques.
  • Making them good and make difference in their lives, as most of them will be school dropouts.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIAS FOR APPRENTICE:

The eligibility criteria of the apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra are given below as follows:

  • Must have completed 14 years of education in the Maharashtra State.
  • Should have completed ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) from the institutes, recognised by the Government of Maharashtra.
  • Candidates already an apprentice with other establishment is not qualified to take up another assignment of apprentice.
  • Must be an ITI/Diploma in Engineering,
  • Every apprentice must have Aadhar and Pan Number.
  • Should have competed 21 years and must be physically fit.

FEATURES OF THE APPRENTICE SCHEME:

The features of the apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra are given below as follows:

  • The training will be promoted by government by sharing the cost of training with the employers.
  • All the skill development initiatives and other schemes approved by the Government of Maharashtra will be covered under the apprentice scheme.
  • Period of training is the probation period.
  • The major initiative done by the government is to train 2 lakhs apprentices every year and make a difference to their lives.
  • INR 5000 will be deposited on a monthly basis to the selected candidate under the apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra.
  • We are the promoters and facilitators of the Apprentice related training.
  • The scheme was launched on May 1, 2021, Maharashtra Formation Day.
  • It is the guided plan under the leadership of the Chief Minister Mr.Uddhav Thackeray and the deputy Chief Minister Mr.Ajit Pawar.
  • The total outlay for the apprentice scheme is approximately INR 650 Crores.
  • The duration of the training differs from 1 year to 3 years.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIAS FOR EMPLOYERS:

The eligibility criteria of the apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra for the establishment recruiting the apprentices are given below as follows.

  • The employers must be registered with the EPFO, ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation), and LIN, Factory/Co-operative/Medium and Small Enterprises and other establishments.
  • The company must have the required strength ranging from 10 to 50 employees in Maharashtra state.
  • Employer must have the Aadhar linked bank account that is operational.
  • An apprentice cannot be forced by an employer to work overtime unless and until any emergency situation/business contingency evolves in an establishment.
  • Apprentice is entitled to all the government holidays announced by the Government of Maharashtra.
  • There must be sufficient reservation for the SC/ST/OBC and other candidates as per the Apprentice Act of 1961.
  • Monthly stipend is to be paid online to the employee’s bank account.
  • The apprentice working in the establishment is allowed to avail 12 days of medical leave in a year.
  • During the workmanship, if any apprentice is suffering from any diseases or met with accident, then he/she has to be effectively compensated.
  • They must look into the health, safety and welfare of the apprentices in Maharashtra.
  • The institutes must submit the periodical reports and returns to the Government of Maharashtra.
