Severe shortage of manpower in the skilled categories is felt in many Industries in Maharashtra. It has been realised that Apprenticeship Training Scheme of the Government of Maharashtra is the major source of supply of skilled manpower to the industry.The need of the hour is to supply quality manpower to the industries in Maharashtra.
The Apprenticeship Act was modified in 1961, 1973 and in 1986. The scheme has been executed in the state of Maharashtra since January 1963 after the presentation of the Act in 1962. The apprentice scheme of the Government of Maharashtra is the major step taken in this regard.
The Government of Maharashtra has amended the Apprentice Act of 1961, as per the Maharashtra Government Gazette Part-8 and the Part-22 dated 09/02/2018 and the Maharashtra Government Gazette Part-4 dated 05/04/2018 the establishment has been directed to recruit 50% apprentices with top priority to boost their chances of having adequate manpower.
