United Overseas Bank Limited is a premier banking establishment set up in Singapore in order to develop the commerce and economy of this tiny nation that obtained independence from Malaysia. This establishment was created by a Sarawak born businessman Wee Kheng Chiang and this bank is the largest bank in South East Asia, when you look at the total assets. In the initial stage, this bank was known as United Chinese Bank (UCB) to give importance to the ever increasing Chinese Population available in and around Singapore. This bank opened up in the three storied building known as the Bonham Buildings.
