History of Union Bank of India

Union Bank of India is also known as the Union Bank of the UBI, and this is one of the Indian Government controlled bank and this was set up after the Andhra Bank and the Corporation Bank was set up.  This came into effect from April 1, 2020 and this is one of the largest Public Sector undertaking with more than 9500 plus branches in India. Some of the foreign branches were established in places like Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai and UBI works with the help of more than 11000 more ATM, 8000 Customer Service Centres having a Pan India presence. Shri Seth Sitaram Poddar is the founder of the Union Bank of India. 

The Union Bank of India was created on November 11,1919 by Shri Seth Sitaram Poddar and the office was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. Later onwards, in 1969 all the branches were brought under this bank and in 1975 we got the Belgaum Bank a private establishments. Furthermore, we also acquired the Miraj State Bank that was created in 1929 and it had more than 30 plus branches.We opened our offices in places like Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and other places in UAE like Dubai.

Later on the Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman stressed on the fact that Corporation Bank and Andhra Bank will be merged under the umbrella of Union Bank of India.
