The Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank Limited is one of the major cooperative bank located in Thane near Mumbai in Maharashtra State. This bank was established in 1979 and after its operations, we have close to 30 plus branches in Maharashtra. This bank is the brain child of Dr.V.N.Bedekar and Mr.M.Y.Gokhale and other senior social workers in Maharashtra.
Furthermore, the Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank Limited was registered with the Registrar of the Cooperative Societies on September 25, 1978 and the first Annual General Meeting was held on October 28, 1979 and the founders were appointed the Chairman and Vice Chairman. In the early state, the Bank was named as the “Bharat Sahakari Bank” Limited Thane and later the name was changed to “Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank” Ltd. to avoid confusion in the minds of the people, as 2 other banks, christened as “Bharat Co-operative Bank” and “Bharat Sahakari Bank” were working at that time. Hence this move made a lot of difference to the establishment and survival of the bank in the coming years. This bank was inaugurated by famous economist Dr.V.M.Dandekar.
The Bank celebrated Silver Jubilee Year in 2004 and a Magazine was released highlighting the various milestones achieved by the Thane Bharat Sahakari Bank Limited over the last 25 years.
We have been in the forefront in organising various social events in Maharashtra like Blood Donation Camp, Cloth Distribution to the needy, “Nav Varsha Shobha Yatra, Literacy and Employment camps and others in Maharashtra.
