The Karad Urban Cooperative Bank Limited is one of the important name in the co-operative banking segment in Maharashtra State. The Cooperative bank started like the Urban Credit Society in 1917 and then it was transformed into a banking establishment. The founders were not having any background in fields like Commerce, Trade, or Banking segments. It is their pious motive to make a difference to the downtrodden and poorer segment of the society in Maharashtra led to the rise of the Karad Urban Cooperative Bank Limited.
We have more than 10 plus branches in and around Karad and we have got the branches in Kolhapur, Solapur, Ratnagiri, Pune and Mumbai. We have made great progress in various district of Maharashtra and made sure the concept of cooperative movement reaches every households.
Furthermore, we have made tremendous development in changing the lives of the people living in Maharashtra by giving financial assistance. We removed and challenged the traditional format of functioning of the banks and brought computerisation to all the branches. During 1990, we got the status of the Scheduled Commercial Bank from the Reserve Bank of India and stressed on the concept of Core Banking. Our bank has established the state of the art training centre recognised by the Government of Maharashtra and we have modern training mechanisms and technologies.
On the social front, we established the Karad Urban Samajik Kritadnyata Nyas", where in we offer the financial assistance to the people suffering from COVID 19, Heart Attacks, Kidney Failure, Nervous Disorders, Mental Cases and Accidents. We also set up a small health care centre offering medical assistance to the downtrodden and the middle class at reasonable rates.
We also arranged the training workshops for other banks like the Kallapa Awade Ichalkaranji Janata Sah. Bank, Kolhapur Zillha Patsanstha Federation, Mangalwedha Urban Bank and others and played a pivotal role in their success.
