The Akola Urban Cooperative Bank Limited was the supreme creation of late Shri Shankarlalji Khandelwal, late Shri Narayanrao Gangavate, late Shri Vasudeorao Manbhekar, and the late Shri Naryanrao Tendulkar. The branch started its operations of its first branch on the eve of Vijayadashami on September 28, 1963 in a small rented building at Akola in Maharashtra. The premises was inaugurated by Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee MP, who later went to become the PM of India.
On February 5, 1984 the bank was given the license by the supreme banking institution known as the RBI to expand its banking functions. Furthermore, till 1990 we have only 8 branches in Akola and after 1991 when Dr. Manmohan Singh introduced Liberalisation, we have opened 21 branches and also got the multi state bank status. On August 8, 2000 we obtained the Multi Bank Status and were able to expand our operations beyond Maharashtra.
The slogan of the Bank is "Sahkaren Janakalyanam" a term in Sanskrit meaning welfare done to people from various walks of life in the society. After some time in 2003 the bank shifted its location and later this building was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, the CM of Gujarat State.
