In December 2013, the European Commission fined the bank up to 446 million Euro for its role in the LIBOR scandal regarding interest rate derivatives.
In January 2017, Société Générale agreed to pay USD 50 million to settle a claim by the American government of fraudulent concealment of residential mortgage-backed securities quality.
In March 2014, the Libyan Authorities filed a USD 1.5bn lawsuit in London's High Court against Société Générale. The bank was accused of transferring USD 58 Million in bribes to Gadaffi's son.
During February 2016, Société Générale paid USD 26.8 million to settle charges regarding the municipal bond derivatives where in the French bank is accused of fraudulent conduct.
