RBI aka the Reserve Bank of India, is India's central bank and regulatory body responsible for controlling the Indian banking system. Headquartered in Mumbai, it is under Ministry of finance and regulates the Indian Currency Systems like printing the notes and coins. It was nationalised on 1st Jan 1949. Two major schemes are introduced like the RBI Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme.

History of Reserve Bank of India

Reserve Bank of India is the apex banking institution in our nation and is the major organisation established in order to regulate the Indian Banking Systems. This is set up in order to regulate the value of Indian Rupees. RBI also play a major role in managing all the banks and also created the National Payment Corporation of India as one of the major division to control the payment systems in India.The Credit Guarantee Corporation and the Deposit Insurance is the major establishment set up in order to assist in offering the insurance to the deposits and using various credit facilities of various Indian banks. This bank was established as per the Reserve Bank of India Act of 1934 and after Independence from UK, it was nationalised on January 1, 1949.

On November 12,2021, Mr. Narendrabai Damodardas Modi, the Prime Minister of India, launched two schemes to enhance the investments and provide more security for the investors. The schemes were known as the RBI Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme.  The RBI Retail Direct Scheme is brought in to invest regularly in the Government Securities and the Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme is the platform, where in the customer concerns can be effectively resolved against the establishment run by the RBI. As per the Reserve Bank of India guidelines, it is mandatory for every bank to have a complaint box and some exception are given to the Regional Rural Banks.

Reserve Bank is the centralised banking agency of India and the Reserve Bank offering the short-term loans and financial support towards various banks to facilitate lending to specific sectors and for specific purposes. Current accounts are maintained by the RBI for undertaking an effective participation in Centralised and decentralised Payment Systems and resolving credit concerns, inter-bank transactions like clearing money market transactions between two banks, buying and selling securities and foreign currencies in a logical manner.
