History of Punjab and Sind Bank

Punjab and Sind Bank is one of the 16 banks that has been nationalised and is under the control of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Headquartered in New Delhi, till date we are offering good service to the people in Punjab and Sind Areas. After partition it began to work for the state of Punjab, as Sind went to Pakistan. This bank got nationalised on April 15 1980 when the second round of nationalisation of the banks were taking place. Furthermore, in 1960 Punjab and Sind bank set up a bank in London and the growth of the bank has been very phenomenal in the years to come. Earlier the registered office was at Hall Bazaar, Amritsar, India.

The Initial Public Offering has seen an amazing jump to more than 50 percent and the growth rate of the Punjab and Sind Bank is more than 60 percent. This bank was created by Bhai Vir Singh, Sardar Tarlochan Singh and Sri Sundar Singh Majitha  on June 24, 1908 in Amritsar to assist the people not able to meet their financial requirements. In the present scenario we have more than 600 plus branches in Punjab and 26 zonal offices that are present all over Indian subcontinent. 

Shri Swarup Kumar Saha is the MD and Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab and Sind Bank and Mr. Kollegal Raghavendra is the Director. We believe in the principle of Sarva Jana Hitai Sarva Jana Sukhai” as this is the core principle of the founding personalities of the bank.
