History of Indian Overseas Bank

Indian Overseas Bank IOB is one among the 16 nationalised banks on July 19, 1969 and this bank directly comes under the sphere of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India and the headquarters of this bank is in Chennai the capital of Tamil Nadu. Since its origin on February 10 1937 by Mr. M. Chidambaram Chettiyar with the sole motive of taking banking to other nations and improve the foreign exchange reserves. We have unleashed great milestones in the banking segments and IOB was one of the 14 vital banks taken over by the Indian government. 

The year 2000 was the most memorable for the IOB bank as they began to give importance to the Initial Public Offerings and also purchased the government shares in the bank came down drastically from 100 to 75 percent. In order to have extensive banking and make a Pan India presence, the Indian Overseas Bank has got 3218 branches and 3270 ATM's and looking to extend its outreach. We have branches in Sri Lanka, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Burma.
