History of Bharat Cooperative Bank Mumbai Limited

The Bharat Cooperative Bank Mumbai Limited was set up by the Billawa Community as they were from very poor backgrounds, and were very dedicated to the given task. They followed Narayana Guru slogan “Be educated…. to Progress and be united…. to become strong”. Furthermore, these positive minded and enterprising youth shared their success and failures with each other and always came forward to assist their community.

This wonderful thought led to the creation of the Bharat Cooperative Bank Mumbai Limited and on August 21, 1978, the bank was inaugurated by Shri Hashu Advani. In the year 1995 there was around 11 branches and doing business of INR 160 Crores. In 1997 this bank became a Multi State Cooperative Bank and entered other states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and others. At present there are 50 plus branches and making a mark in the cooperative movement in India.

Mr. Uppur Shivaji Poojary is the Chairman and Mrs. Rohini J Salian is the Vice Chairman of the Bharat Cooperative Bank Mumbai Limited.
